m-cult produces and publishes information on media culture, communicates about developments
of the field domestically and internationally as well as follows, contextualizes and promotes
ongoing discussion on media culture. The publishing activities are being developed to cover
both print, internet, mobile and digital television platforms.
M2HZ is a Helsinki-based multi-channel television project which is being collaboratively
developed by artists, developers and civil society organisations. M2HZ reinvents the idea
of "channel" for the current media environment and provides access for cultural and civic
groups. m-cult initiated M2HZ in 2005 and coordinates its development in 2006.

In 2003, m-cult together with Koskela Art & Media House launched an ambitious
cross-media production on Finnish new media culture, . The project includes a
5-part documentary for the digital YLE Teema channel (first broadcasts in January
2004) and a dynamic web documentary with interviews and project presentations by 60
artists and developers (launched in 2005).

m-cult.net is an online information and communication resource for new media
culture, which contains a database of Nordic actors and projects, an events
and funding calendar as well as news and discussions filtered from national
and international scenes. Content and platforms for m-cult.net are co-developed
with Nordic and international partners.

Web journal for media culture mediumi forms a part of the m-cult.net service.
mediumi is Finland's only forum dedicated to media culture practice and research
and its theme issues have focused eg. on e-cities, digital television, mobile

The report publishes results from the research on Civic participation in Digital
Television. Based on extensive interviews and interactive workshops, the report
places media citizenship within a framework provided by participatory politics
and peer-to-peer communication in a multi-channel environment. The results are
summed up in an overview of communication needs from civil society and governmental
points of view, concept descriptions for participatory services and proposals for
further policy actions.

Nordic media culture - actors and practices publishes results of the Nordic research project
carried out by m-cult in collaboration with PNEK (NO), CRAC (SE), Lorna (IS) and CultureNet
Denmark (DK). The report contains an overview of Nordic media culture, reports from the
national "scenes" in the five countries, proposals, project presentations and a catalogue
of key organisations in the field. The research project was funded by the Nordic Council
of Ministers and the Nordic Cultural Fund.

Media art - Finnish actors and international models is an overview of the contemporary
Finnish media art field as well as of its policy in relation to international models
of best practice. The report suggests a substantial increase in funding for Finnish
media art, and makes a recommendation to form a National Council for Media Art within
The Arts Council of Finland.
