M-Cult is looking for a Communication Manager to develop its communication from September 1st to December 31st, 2024 (a four-month period). The Communication Manager is responsible for building a new communication strategy, planning a new website for the organisation, and handling daily communication tasks. We aim to continue the position after 2024 with a focus on daily communication activities.

M-Cult is an agency dedicated to developing and promoting new forms of media art and digital culture, with a focus on the cultural and social aspects of media and technology. Founded in 2000, M-Cult is a Helsinki-based non-profit organisation. The organisation across the fields of media and collaborative art, supports artists in the creation, presentation, and reflection of socially engaged and technically experimental projects and practices. M-Cult brings together international partner networks and local groups and communities.

Salary and working hours
The position is 60% of full-time hours, totalling 23 hours and 30 minutes per week, including lunch breaks. We are flexible with the working days. The salary is EUR 1800 per month.
 

As the Communication Manager:

  • You are in charge of developing a new communication strategy for the organisation. 
  • You will be responsible for planning a new website for the organisation with M-Cult’s director.
  • You will execute daily communication for our autumn 2024 activities. M-Cult’s main activities during Autumn 2024 will be a few different scales of events. 

 

What we expect from you:

  • Experience planning and executing communication at an art organisation.  
  • Knowledge of contemporary art and media art fields. 
  • Interest in fair, inclusive, and sustainable communication practices.
  • Good organisational and cooperation skills and the ability to work under pressure: you will coordinate development processes and execute daily communication tasks with M-Cult’s small team.   
  • Fluent spoken and written English skills are a must. Finnish language skills are not a requirement.

About M-Cult
M-Cult’s office is located in the Vallila neighborhood in Helsinki, with the possibility for partial remote work. The organisation’s working languages are Finnish and English. Although M-Cult’s current office is not wheelchair accessible, we strive to accommodate various access needs regarding working space.

Selection process
Interviews will be conducted in the second week of August 2024 by Jussi Koitela, Director of M-Cult. We will make the decision in mid-August. The interview will last about 40 minutes. Candidates chosen for the interview will receive the questions and preparation instructions in advance.
