Public Faculty is a process of knowledge exchange and collective learning within the context of a certain place. Devised by Jeanne van Heeswijk as a public sketchbook, the 4-day event is dedicated to talking, listening, and taking action.
A Public Faculty encourages us to ask urgent questions and to learn collectively to take responsibility. It can take many forms - from writing and sketching to speculative narratives and performative actions that stir conversation and make existing conflicts productive. In collaboration with Publics and m-cult, Jeanne van Heeswijk will realise Public Faculty #13 and #14 in Helsinki.
Public Faculty #13 takes place on June 16-19, 2019 in the Vallila district, which is also the home for PUBLICS and m-cult. It will address the question of How to care for the future?
Public Faculty #14 will follow in Autumn 2019 in the Maunula neighbourhood, where m-cult has been supporting artists to create new work in dialogue with locals.
